VCU Office of Health Initiatives

VCU Office of Health Initiatives (formerly VCU Office of Health Equity) is a part of Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health that is committed to developing and implementing innovative initiatives to advance health outcomes for their patients. Through their partnership with the web agency Left Plus Right, I redesigned their old homepage and brought it all the way to development.

VCU uses a specialized CMS called Terminal Four that allows them to maintain the highest levels of security and IT management across their entire ecosystem, which is vital for an organization of their scale. I passed VCU’s T4 and security training and worked with their IT department to bring the new design into a staging environment and then pass it off to their team for deployment. T4 utilizes a unique blend of hard coding, custom widgets, and file-based site structure – think a cross between WordPress, Webflow, and direct SMTP pushes through local dev environments. It was a unique challenge to bring the design to fruition utilizing these tools, but we were able to achieve the desired blend of functionality, brand cohesion, and a fresh modern look.
